Reflexive verbs in the present

Reflexive verbs show an action you do to yourself. They carry a pronoun that must match the subject: me, te, se, nos. The verb still conjugates normally.

Me levanto, te levantas, se levanta, nos levantamos, se levantan.

Common routine verbs: despertarse, levantarse, bañarse/ducharse, vestirse, acostarse.

Ordering your day

To describe a routine, use sequence words like 'primero' (first), 'después' (then) and 'por la noche' (at night). The reflexive verb usually comes right after the pronoun.

Primero me despierto, después me baño y por la noche me acuesto.

Put the reflexive pronoun before the conjugated verb: 'me levanto', not 'levanto me'.
