Say 'Hoy es miércoles, primero de octubre' — the day, then 'primero' (1st) or cardinal numbers (dos, tres...), 'de' + month. Months are lowercase. 'El primero' is the only ordinal used commonly in dates.
Hoy es lunes, veinte de julio. Mi cumpleaños es el cinco de mayo.
Dates: el + number + de + month: el 5 de mayo.
Weather expressions
Weather uses three patterns: 'hace + noun' (hace frío, hace calor, hace viento), 'está + adjective' (está nublado, está soleado), and verbs (llueve, nieva, está lloviendo).
Hace calor y está soleado, pero va a llover.
'Va a + infinitive' = going to: va a llover.
